Over Christmas, a lot of my friends were talking about How I Met Your Mother. I had never seen the show, so I decided to catch up and see what all the fuss was about. Things around the studio have been really busy lately so I started watching episodes on lunch breaks. This lead to episodes over dinner, after dinner, with a friend, before bed… Needless to say I’m all caught up. I love this show. I think the last time I had this much fun watching a sitcom was when Friends was on.
I’m sure a lot of my love for HIMYM comes from identifying with Ted Mosby played by Josh Radnor. Probably the case for a lot of people that watch the show. I like that main character, the one searching for his future, is a guy. Not a woman waiting for Prince Charming. When you get down to it, the whole cast of characters is really fun. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the inspiration for today’s comic, the hilarity of Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson. (@actuallyNPH on Twitter)
The problem with watching so many episodes of HIMYM over the past few weeks is that I’ve noticed I now have an inner Barney Stinson monologue. Mentioning the show in Starcrossed was more of a release than a conscious choice. So, thanks for the inspiration! The hard part now will be keeping too much sitcom from spilling over into the comic.
