As an artist, the internet can bombard you with link after link of gorgeous art. From comics to CG concept painting and modeling to animation, there’s just so much amazing work out there it’s impossible to post everything I see that strikes a chord. This animated short by animator Ryan Woodward however, is technically beautiful, emotionally powerful, and inspirational in every meaning of the word.
I need to draw more.
Look familiar? That’s because Woodward is responsible for a recent Google Doodle in commemoration of legendary dance choreographer, Martha Graham. It premiered on Google.com on May 11, 2011.
If you’re as mesmerized as I am, there is also a short documentary about the making of Thought Of You which you will likely enjoy.
Still haven’t had enough? Check out ConteAnimated.com for more gorgeous gesture drawing.
Thanks to my friend Jared MacPhee for sharing this!
I saw this awhile ago and thought it was fantastic. I hadn’t seen the behind-the-scene video, which added some great insight into the project and artist. Thanks for sharing this!
Jared’s unite! (thanks fer the link btw)
Great documentary, didn’t watch that. He’s a cool dude. I want that cintique…
Dear Jareds,
You’re quite welcome on both counts. I was ready to just repost this on Facebook, then, I watched the doc and knew I had to do something more with it.
I’m not 100% sure, but it really looks like he’s using Flash on the Cintiq. I wish I could afford one too. A new thunderbolt iMac and a new 21″ Cintiq. $4000 smakers.
Who wants a commission? Anyone? … Anyone?
